Learn 200 nouns, 120 verbs, 100 adjectives, and 80 adverbs, pronouns, possessives, prepositions, numbers and expressions. Each item has three sentence levels, English translations, German pronunciation controls and five-choice quizzes.

The 200 paintings connect related words. A sleeping cat can help you remember Katze, schlafen and müde. For abstract words, the scene is a memory association. Sentences may describe a different situation from the painting.

Easy sentences introduce a meaning. Intermediate examples add context. Challenge sentences practise more complex word order. These are relative practice levels, not certified CEFR assessments.

Illustrations were made with AI for this course, with inspiration from modernist line art, comics, Impressionism, Surrealism and Renaissance frescoes.

Pronunciation uses an available German voice on your device. Progress is saved in this browser, separately for each sentence level.

Music uses newly rendered arrangements of public-domain score transcriptions from the Mutopia Project and GeneralUser GS sampled instruments. Full track and instrument credits are included in the downloadable materials.
